It’s a hands-on approach to physiotherapy that doesn’t involve machines, with the primary goal of restoring movement, decreasing pain and returning you to the activities you love to do!
Orthopaedic Manual Physiotherapists have expert clinical reasoning skills that allow them to target the root cause of an injury. This often involves dysfunction in multiple areas or tissues of the body in the spine and/or extremities.
These physiotherapists are currently completing or have undergone extensive post-graduate training that goes beyond the basic physiotherapy masters program Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. Once they assess the problem, they know various hands-on techniques to address restrictions in the joints, muscles, fascia or nervous system of your body.
Techniques can include joint mobilizations and joint manipulations that you would more traditionally think of as chiropractic care. They also include soft tissue release, fascial release, nerve mobilization and exercises to aid in your recovery.
Your progress is reassessed at each visit and treatment plans are adjusted as needed.
